Let us resolve to build an inclusive society: Vice President

KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has called for a collective commitment to eliminate all forms of discrimination, hostility, and intolerance, and to uphold equal opportunity, social justice, and cultural respect as core values of society.

Extending best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of National Unity Day 2082, Vice President Yadav said that the country can progress economically, socially, educationally, and politically only by ending discrimination and promoting inclusion and harmony.

“I am confident that this day will help eradicate ethnic, class, religious, and regional divisions while fostering brotherhood, reconciliation, and a shared sense of belonging,” he said.

He expressed hope that National Unity Day would contribute to realizing the aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity through the federal democratic republican system, while preserving and promoting Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.

The Vice President stressed that National Unity Day should serve as a catalyst for strengthening social harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect by embracing Nepal’s multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious, and multicultural identity. He urged citizens to move forward with mutual trust, cooperation, and a sense of shared responsibility.

“I extend my best wishes that National Unity Day 2082 will further reinforce our commitment to building an egalitarian society based on proportional, inclusive, and participatory principles, making unity in diversity the foundation of our national identity,” the message stated.

National Unity Day, observed on Poush 27 (January 11), also coincides with Prithvi Jayanti. Vice President Yadav noted that the day offers an opportunity to reflect on Nepal’s shared history, culture, and national pride, and to honor the contributions of ancestors who worked to unify the country.

“This day reminds us that placing national interest above personal interest is essential to building a strong and inclusive nation,” he said, adding that it holds special significance in instilling dedication, service, and responsibility toward the motherland among the younger generation.
