Govt pushes promotion of domestic products, focuses on DDC expansion

KATHMANDU: The government has shown special initiative to promote domestic production as a matter of national pride.

A detailed discussion was held in today’s Cabinet meeting regarding nationwide promotion and market expansion of products of the state-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).

Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary raised the agenda of promoting DDC products as a key priority during the meeting.

She stressed the need to prioritize the use and promotion of domestic dairy products to protect local farmers’ interests and strengthen the commercial capacity of the corporation.

Minister Chaudhary also highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination to develop DDC into a more competitive, high-quality, and self-reliant institution.

She further emphasized that the government should provide necessary support to ensure proper management of milk collected from Nepali farmers and guarantee a stable market for dairy products.

During the meeting, she distributed packages of DDC products to Prime Minister Balen Shah and other Cabinet members.

DDC has long been supplying consumers with dairy products such as milk, ghee, curd, paneer, and cheese, maintaining a reputation for purity and quality.

Prime Minister Shah also promoted DDC products during the meeting, sending a strong message encouraging the consumption of domestic goods.
