KATHMANDU: The Mustang Customs Office, located at Nhechu of Lomanthang-1, has collected Rs 6.66 billion in revenue until May 29, according to officials.
The revenue surge comes after the Korala border point between Nepal and China came into full operation from September 16, 2025, significantly boosting cross-border trade activities in the region.
Chief of the Customs Office, Bidur Chudal, said that the revenue was primarily generated from the import of electric vehicles, garments, and various other consumer and commercial goods.
Officials stated that the operationalization of the Korala checkpoint has contributed to an unprecedented rise in customs collection in Mustang, which was previously limited due to restricted cross-border movement.
Authorities expect the revenue trend to continue as trade activities expand further through the northern border point.
