National Assembly passes Tourism Bill, government prioritizes constitution-related laws

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed the Tourism Bill. The proposal was presented by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Anil Kumar Sinha, who said the bill aims to diversify and promote tourism across Nepal.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Minister Anil Kumar Sinha also informed the assembly that the government is giving high priority to drafting and enacting laws necessary for the implementation of the Constitution. While responding to members’ oral questions, he stated that the identification, prioritization, and formulation of constitution-related laws are being carried out as a top priority by the government.

Since the promulgation of the Constitution, a total of 146 separate acts have been issued. The minister added that existing acts are being amended to align with the Constitution and federal governance system, and several bills to revise Nepal Acts have already been enacted. The ministry is preparing to submit bills related to the amendment of the Reconciliation Act and civil codes to the federal parliament for approval.

During the session, the National Assembly also passed a condolence motion for former National Assembly member Shukraraj Sanyok, who was elected from the Nepali Congress in 1998 and passed away on February 2 at the age of 90.
