KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that global reactionary geopolitical forces targeting democracy are also becoming visible in Nepal.
Speaking at a party entry program organized by NCP Kathmandu Constituency No. 5 on Monday, Prachanda said that world imperialism has been using social media-driven stunts to engineer geopolitical interference in different countries, and Nepal is not immune from such influence.
He added that individuals without ideology, political principles, history or legacy are attempting to gain popularity solely through social media, calling it a growing challenge to democratic values.
Prachanda said there is a need for a new resolve and serious political reassessment to counter such tendencies and to re-engage in politics dedicated to the nation and the people. He added that the Nepali Communist Party was formed precisely to generate that political strength.
‘NCP regaining public trust’
The former prime minister claimed that public trust and hope are once again rising due to the party’s policies and programs focused on development, good governance, anti-corruption, social justice, economic growth, and job creation.
Although acknowledging that the present era is driven by social media and information technology, Prachanda stressed that direct engagement with people at the grassroots level remains the most effective political approach.
He further claimed that NCP is currently the only party with new ideas and a fresh political agenda, asserting that the party is steadily emerging as a center of public confidence.
‘Country pushed into elections as per NCP demand’
Addressing the same program, Prachanda said that the entire country has been pushed toward elections in line with NCP’s long-standing demand. He added that the party was built in accordance with the spirit and sentiment of the Gen-Z movement.
“We have formed the Nepali Communist Party in a way that accommodates all communist forces within the country. At present, 26 small and large parties have joined NCP, along with thousands of activists,” he said.
He reiterated that NCP had consistently advocated for elections from the beginning and claimed that the party is growing stronger by the day, with a visible surge of public support nationwide.
Leaders highlight Gen-Z movement
NCP Kathmandu-5 parliamentary candidate Kalpana Sharma said that the country has entered a new direction following the Gen-Z movement, adding that NCP’s victory is essential to institutionalize that movement.
Similarly, NCP Kathmandu-6 parliamentary candidate Himal Sharma said the party is contesting the upcoming elections with a new election symbol that reflects the spirit of the Gen-Z movement, urging voters to support NCP.
During the program, senior athlete Renuka Shrestha and dozens of others formally left the CPN-UML and joined the Nepali Communist Party.
