Damauli-Keshavtar road blacktopped

TANAHUN: The road to Keshavtar, located 14 kilometers from the district headquarters Damauli, in Byas Municipality-14, has been paved and blacktopped. Currently, nine kilometers of the road has been paved.

Out of the total 14 kilometers of the road, seven kilometers of which were previously blacktopped, two kilometers of the road have now been paved from the provincial government’s budget.

The Gandaki provincial government has started construction of drains, road expansion and blacktopping at a cost of Rs 50 million. The construction work was increased from the previous year’s budget of the Gandaki provincial government, and after the completion of that work, five kilometers of the road are yet to be blacktopped, informed Ward Chairman Kajiman Shrestha.

He said, “Vehicle movement in that section has been stopped for a week now. People are going to Damauli via the highway via Keshavtar-Kulud.”

It is being developed as a ring road by connecting it to Dumre Bazaar on the Prithvi Highway via Damauli-Keshavtar, Dharampani, and Bandipur. Byas Municipality has approved a loan grant of Rs 60 million from the World Bank under the Urban Infrastructure Development and Governance Program and the process has been taken forward for the second phase, informed Bheshraj Tiwari, Planning Branch Officer of Byas.

The Gandaki Province government has re-allocated a budget of Rs 10 million and the municipality has repeatedly allocated a budget of about Rs 40 million for the upgrading of the Keshavtar Motorway, said Mayor Baikuntha Neupane.
