HoR election: 7,500 security personnel to be mobilized in Jhapa



JHAPA: A total of 7,500 security personnel will be deployed in Jhapa district for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal stated that election security will be ensured through the deployment of Election Police (field security personnel) alongside the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police. This time, 4,748 election police will be mobilized. To facilitate this, a joint recruitment process has been launched by the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.

The district has been assigned 285 and 815 polling stations (note: original numbers seem inconsistent—this may need clarification). Among them, 95 and 271 polling stations are classified as highly sensitive.

According to Chief District Officer Gelal, 147 polling stations are sensitive and 43 are normal, while 390 polling stations are sensitive and 105 are normal. This election also sees the addition of 49 new polling stations in Jhapa.

The recruitment process for the selection of 4,947 election police has begun today. Interested candidates must apply by January 19 as per the official notice.
