Chinese Premier Li Qiang congratulates Balen, pledges cooperation on BRI



KATHMANDU: Chinese Premier Li Qiang has sent a congratulatory message to Nepal’s newly appointed Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Premier Li highlighted that China and Nepal are traditional neighboring countries connected by mountains and rivers, and that over the 71 years since establishing diplomatic relations, the two nations have developed bilateral ties guided by the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

He expressed China’s support for Nepal’s new government in its governance efforts, emphasizing continued backing for Nepal’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Li Qiang stated that he is ready to work closely with Prime Minister Balendra Shah to jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors at a high level.

He further affirmed China’s commitment to enhancing the China-Nepal friendly strategic cooperative partnership for development and prosperity.
