Second phase of fertilizer distribution begins in Madhes

JANAKPURDHAM: The Agricultural Inputs Company Limited, Dhanusha, has started distributing the regular quota of chemical fertilizers in the second phase as paddy transplantation reaches its final stage in Dhanusha and Mahottari districts.

The Dhanusha office has begun distributing diammonium phosphate (DAP) and urea following the decision of the Madhes Province Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives.

According to Bechan Sah, information officer at the Agricultural Inputs Company Limited in Janakpurdham, 979 metric tons of DAP and 926 metric tons of urea have been allocated to Dhanusha, while 931 metric tons of DAP and 880 metric tons of urea have been allocated to Mahottari.

The distribution has gradually eased the fertilizer shortage reported in the two districts in recent days.

Sah said 2.6 metric tons of urea is currently available in stock at the Agricultural Inputs Company Limited office in Janakpurdham, Dhanusha.

He said fertilizer transportation had been disrupted for several days due to curfew and prohibitory orders imposed by local administrations following incidents in Sunsari and Siraha. However, transportation has gradually resumed, allowing fertilizers to reach farmers in need.
