KATHMANDU: Seven Madhesh-focused political parties have jointly announced the formation of a new political alliance named the ‘Progressive Front’.
The alliance was announced at a programme held at Kathmandu Banquet in Thapagaun on Saturday. The participating parties include Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Janamat Party, Aam Janata Party, Pragatisheel Loktrantrik Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party and Bahujan Ekta Party Nepal.
The Progressive Democratic Party, which includes former Maoist deputy general secretary Janardan Sharma and former Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Santosh Pariyar, is also part of the new front.
The formation comes amid ongoing efforts among Madhesh-based parties to strengthen political cooperation. With seven parties coming together, the new alliance is expected to have an impact on Nepal’s emerging political equations.
The front is preparing to move forward on the basis of shared political issues and common agendas.
