KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has said he will take responsibility for safeguarding the political future of the party’s active leaders and cadres.
Addressing the inauguration of the RPP Kathmandu Metropolitan City convention on Saturday, Lingden urged active party workers not to become discouraged, saying the party now needs to move forward in a new way.
He said the party’s general convention scheduled for December 12-14 will be the main focus and a historic milestone for all RPP leaders and workers.
Lingden said public frustration with parties that have been in power for the past 35 years is growing and that the country has continued to face disappointment even after the formation of a new government.
He said RPP has an important role to play in representing poor, landless and ordinary citizens.
Lingden also said those who seek positions but avoid work and political struggles would have no place in the party, while the door would remain open to leaders and cadres capable of working and winning elections.
He further pledged that there would be no retaliation against those expressing dissent within the party and urged members to actively participate in the ongoing active membership campaign.
