KATHMANDU: Short-video platform TikTok removed nearly 2 million videos uploaded from Nepal during the first three months of 2026 for violating its Community Guidelines.
According to the company’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, a total of 1,961,698 videos posted from Nepal between January and March were taken down. The report states that the removed content accounted for around 0.4 percent of all videos uploaded from Nepal during the period.
TikTok said its enforcement rate in Nepal reached 99.2 percent, while 86.5 percent of the violating content was removed within 24 hours of being posted, indicating faster moderation of policy-violating content.
The company also said some content removed in error during the initial review was later restored. According to the report, 61,992 videos were reinstated on the platform.
Globally, TikTok removed more than 184 million videos during the same period, representing about 0.5 percent of all uploaded content. The company said most of the content was detected and removed through automated detection systems.
TikTok also reported taking action against fake activity, removing more than 86.2 million fake accounts worldwide during the first quarter. It further said that over 25.7 million accounts suspected of belonging to users under the age of 13 were removed.
The platform said it had also stepped up monitoring of livestreams. According to the report, more than 58.2 million live sessions worldwide received warnings or had monetisation disabled, while disciplinary action was taken against more than 21.9 million livestream creators.
TikTok said it publishes the enforcement report regularly to improve transparency regarding content and account moderation decisions and to strengthen user trust in the platform.
