Westerly system to bring cloudy weather, thunderstorms today



KATHMANDU: Several parts of the country are likely to witness rain, thunder, lightning, and snowfall today as the influence of a westerly disturbance and local weather systems remains active, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

According to the Division, weather conditions are generally cloudy in most mountainous and hilly regions, including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy.

Light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as at one or two places in Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, including Koshi and Madhesh provinces, while the remaining Terai areas will experience partly cloudy conditions.

The Division has forecast moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and other provinces, and at one or two places in Madhesh Province. Light rainfall is also likely at one or two places in the remaining Terai regions.

There is also a possibility of snowfall in the high Himalayan region. Tonight, weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly areas and partly cloudy in the Terai region.

According to the Division, moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Light rain and snowfall are also possible at one or two places in other mountainous areas, including parts of Madhesh Province.
