KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shraddha Shrestha, has said that it is necessary to move forward on the journey of building a gender-equal nation while ensuring women’s rights.
Issuing a best wishes message on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day today, she emphasized that in order to achieve the objectives of gender equality and women’s empowerment, equal access of women must be ensured in all spheres of the state, such as education, health, employment, decision-making processes, and politics.
Minister Shrestha said that the women’s movement, which began with the issue of establishing women’s rights and has gone through various ups and downs, celebrates the ‘Day of rights, justice, and opportunities with work for all women and children’.
She referred to Article 38 of the Constitution of Nepal that ensures women’s rights by ending gender-based discrimination and inhumane practices such as atrocities, exploitation, oppression, and violence against women, and guarantees equality between men and women.
