Shram Sanskriti becomes national party as RSP surges in PR vote count



KATHMANDU: The Shram Sanskriti Party has secured national party status as vote counting continues under the proportional representation (PR) system in the 2026 Nepal House of Representatives election.

According to the latest figures released by the Election Commission Nepal, a total of 9,751,232 PR votes have been counted so far.

With the updated tally, the Shram Sanskriti Party has crossed the threshold required to become a national party. The party, led by Harka Sampang, has secured 332,837 votes so far. It had already won three seats under the first-past-the-post system in Khotang District, Bhojpur District and Sunsari District-1, and is now expected to receive at least four seats under the PR system.

This was the first election contested by the Shram Sanskriti Party, and it has managed to secure national party recognition in its debut.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party is also nearing the threshold and is almost certain to become a national party after securing 309,785 votes so far.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party remains in a clear lead under the PR category with 4,698,410 votes.

The Nepali Congress is in second place with 1,580,309 votes, followed by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) with 1,317,514 votes.
