KATHMANDU: The parliamentary party of the CPN-UML has endorsed guidelines governing the appointment and management of personal aides for its lawmakers.
The guidelines, including eligibility criteria for personal aides, were approved during a parliamentary party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday.
Deputy parliamentary party leader Padma Aryal said the meeting also stressed the need for lawmakers to thoroughly study bills under discussion in Parliament, consult experts and actively participate in proposing amendments to make legislation more effective.
She said bills introduced by the government should not be passed without adequate scrutiny, warning that doing so could create risks in the future.
Aryal also said the government should focus on issues directly affecting people’s livelihoods and on strengthening legislation, rather than introducing what she described as irrelevant proposals, such as providing military training to students.
