KATHMANDU: Residents of former Budhbar and Parsa Village Development Committees in Rohini Rural Municipality, Rupandehi, have received their land ownership certificates nearly 58 years after the area underwent cadastral surveying.
The area was designated as a village block in 1967, and of the 324 registered land plots, 271 land ownership certificates were distributed to their respective owners on Friday.
The distribution is being viewed as a historic milestone for local residents, many of whom had waited for decades to obtain legal proof of ownership of their land.
With the issuance of the certificates, landowners are expected to benefit from legally recognised ownership, making it easier to buy and sell property, access banking services and obtain other administrative services.
Local residents expressed happiness at finally receiving land ownership certificates in their names after nearly six decades of waiting.
