Nepal Bar Association  calls meeting to discuss chief justice recommendation



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association has called a meeting to formulate its position on the recommendation for the post of chief justice made by the Constitutional Council.

According to Bar General Secretary Kedar Koirala, the meeting has been scheduled for Friday.

He said the discussion will include the association’s advisors, constitutional experts, legal scholars, and former office-bearers to gather opinions on the matter.

Koirala said the Nepal Bar Association will issue its official position following the meeting.

Earlier on Thursday, the Constitutional Council, through a majority decision, recommended Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, the fourth senior-most justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, for appointment as chief justice.
