Three students killed in motorcycle collision and fire in Mahottari



KATHMANDU: Three students were killed after two motorcycles collided and caught fire at Bathnaha village along the Jaleshwar–Bardibas road section in Mahottari District on Tuesday.

According to police, three other individuals were seriously injured in the incident. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwar, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Bhatt of the District Police Office.

Police said that the identities of the deceased and injured have not yet been ascertained. The motorcycles involved were completely burnt, leaving even the number plates unrecognizable.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning when the two motorcycles, approaching from opposite directions, collided at Bathnaha village in Ekdara Rural Municipality–5 along the Jaleshwar–Bardibas road section.

Police said the motorcycles caught fire immediately after the collision, killing three students on the spot. The victims were returning after appearing in the SEE examinations.

Among the injured, two are reported to be in critical condition, while one is in moderate condition, police said.
