Vote counting yet to start in four constituencies

KATHMANDU: While vote counting is underway in 161 constituencies for the direct House of Representatives election in Nepal, counting has not yet begun in four constituencies due to geographical and weather challenges, officials said.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Suman Ghimire, the delay is caused by difficulties in transporting ballot boxes from remote areas.

The affected constituencies are: Sankhuwasabha-1, Gorkha-1, Mugu-1, and Dhanusha-1.

Ballots from Sankhuwasabha have arrived, and a cross-party meeting is preparing to start counting soon. In Gorkha-1, ballots from remote areas are being transported by army helicopter, while in Mugu-1 counting will begin once ballots arrive.

In Dhanusha-1, parties are still seeking consensus on the counting process, which is expected to start shortly.
