Nepal women take on USA in build-up to ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier



KATHMANDU: The Nepali women’s cricket team, currently preparing for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, will face the United States today in a preparatory match.

According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the match between Nepal and the USA will be played at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, starting at 1 pm on Wednesday.

Nepal is gearing up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier scheduled to be held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur from January 12 to February 1.

CAN had earlier announced a 15-member squad for the tournament under the captaincy of Indu Barma. The final squad was selected from a pool of 20 players who participated in the second phase of the closed training camp.

Puja Mahato has been named vice-captain of the team. Other members of the squad include Rubina Chhetri, Sita Rana Magar, Bindu Rawal, Samjhana Khadka, Kajal Shrestha, Kabita Joshi, Kabita Kunwar, Rachana Kumari Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, Roma Thapa, Somu Bisht, Rajmati Airee and Manisha Upadhyay.

The match against the USA is expected to provide the Nepali side with valuable match practice as they fine-tune their preparations ahead of the global qualifier.
