KATHMANDU: CPN-United has urged the government to correct its shortcomings, warning it not to head down a path of failure.
Speaking at a press meet in Maitighar on Wednesday, acting chair Ghanshyam Bhusal said the public expects the current government not to repeat the failures of its predecessors.
Bhusal said recent activities within just a month and a half of the government’s formation have alarmed citizens. He objected to the treatment of squatters in the name of management, calling it inhumane and unacceptable for a democratic government.
He also demanded immediate and proper settlement for genuine squatters and urged the government to withdraw its decision to impose restrictions on trade unions and student organizations.
Criticizing the use of ordinances, Bhusal said a government with a near two-thirds majority should not undermine its own mandate by resorting to such measures.
He further called for a broader national consensus and stronger unity in addressing the Kalapani–Lipulekh issue.
