Three youths arrested for attempted daylight robbery at Indrachowk jewelry shop

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three youths on charges of attempting to rob a gold and silver shop in Bhedasingh, Indrachowk in Kathmandu, while brandishing a pistol.

The incident occurred last week, when a group attempted to carry out a daylight robbery at Naina & Ishan Jewelry. Shop owner Babita Rauniyar resisted the attempt, forcing the suspects to flee.

Superintendent of Police Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said the suspects were arrested during a subsequent investigation and search operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Harikrishna Maharjan, 29, of Mahalaxmi Municipality–6, Lalitpur, along with Bibek Rajbahak and Arun Bhujel, both from the same area.

Police said they appear to have been involved in previous criminal activities. Further investigation is underway.

According to police, Maharjan was apprehended by a team from the Criminal Investigation Office, while Bibek and Arun were arrested by a Kathmandu-based police team. The pistol used in the attempted robbery was recovered from Arun Bhujel.

Police also stated that Maharjan attempted to evade detection by discarding the clothes he wore during the incident near the crime scene.
