National Vigilance Center deploys teams outside capital to monitor public service delivery

KATHMANDU: The National Vigilance Center has deployed monitoring teams to districts outside the capital to assess whether public services are being delivered in line with the government’s governance reform plans.

Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhatta said the teams have been sent to nine districts beyond the Kathmandu Valley starting Monday, with the aim of ensuring compliance with newly revised office hours and improving service delivery.

“Monitoring and surprise inspections of project activities and service delivery have begun outside the valley as well,” Bhatta said, adding that the center is also expediting the handling of complaints and grievances received from the public.

The government has implemented new office hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm starting Monday. Bhatta said monitoring efforts are focused on whether officials are adhering to these hours, working from their designated offices, and delivering services in a timely manner.

The center is also tracking files to identify delays and inefficiencies. In cases where irregularities or misconduct are found, immediate instructions are issued for correction. If corruption is suspected, cases are referred to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority for further investigation.

According to the center, its resources and personnel have been mobilized in line with the government’s priorities of promoting good governance, controlling corruption, and simplifying public service delivery.

Bhatta added that daily monitoring, inspections, and oversight are being carried out across ministries, departments, and public offices to ensure accountability, address service delays, and take necessary action directly from the field.
