PM Karki to propose withdrawal of Social Media Bill in National Assembly today

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Sushila Karki, is set to propose the withdrawal of the Social Media Bill during today’s National Assembly session.

The cabinet had approved the bill’s withdrawal from the federal parliament during a meeting last Tuesday. The bill, registered in the 17th session of the National Assembly, had been under review by the Assembly’s Legislative Management Committee.

According to the tentative agenda, PM Karki will also propose the passage of the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081. She will first present the report from the Legislative Management Committee for discussion on the same bill.

Additionally, the chair of the Public Policy and Assigned Legislation Committee, Mayaprasad Sharma, is scheduled to present a proposal to discuss the Study Report on Policy Issues Related to National Parks, 2082.

The National Assembly session is set to begin at 1:15 pm today, while the Legislative Management Committee will meet earlier at 11:00 am. During the committee meeting, clause-by-clause discussions on the Immovable Cultural Heritage (Conservation) Bill, 2081 will be held, according to committee chair Tulsakumari Dahal.
