LP gas supply to ease within a few days: Ministry

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has said that the supply of cooking LP gas in the market is expected to become easier within the next few days.

The Ministry has urged consumers to buy gas only according to their actual needs and avoid unnecessary hoarding based on rumors or misleading information.

In a statement, ministry spokesperson Netra Prasad Subedi said that imports and distribution of LP gas are currently higher than during the same period last year and are sufficient to meet regular demand.

According to the ministry, coordination is being carried out with the concerned agencies to make the supply and distribution system more effective and to maintain a balance between rising demand and available supply.

The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has also intensified market monitoring. The ministry said efforts have begun to make the import, storage, and distribution of gas more transparent and predictable in coordination with Nepal Oil Corporation and gas industries.

It added that consumers who do not have alternative gas cylinders would be identified and given priority in distribution.

The ministry further warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals or organizations involved in creating artificial shortages, black marketing, illegal activities, or causing unnecessary hardship to consumers.
