KMC conducts orientation on combating human trafficking



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has conducted an orientation programme for people’s representatives from all 32 wards on measures to curb human trafficking.

The programme was held in two phases, with representatives from wards 1 to 16 participating in the first phase, and those from wards 17 to 32 attending in the second.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau, Basanta Pathak, delivered a presentation highlighting national and international legal frameworks against human trafficking, as well as the bureau’s role in victim protection and rescue efforts.

Similarly, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security, Basant Prasad Panthi, presented the National Policy against Human Trafficking 2082 and outlined the ministry’s responsibilities in addressing the issue.

Participants stressed the need to strengthen awareness campaigns and enhance coordination among stakeholders to effectively combat human trafficking.
