NCP leader Barshaman Pun says party staking claim for deputy speaker post

KATHMANDU: Leader of the Nepali Communist Party Barshaman Pun has said his party is staking a claim to the post of deputy speaker in the House of Representatives.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament building in Singha Durbar on Sunday, Pun said the party has put forward its claim for the deputy speaker position and discussions are ongoing with other political parties regarding the matter.

Pun also said the current government has achieved stability in line with public expectations and that his party would support the government in carrying out positive work.

He added that his party is not in favour of criticising the government merely for the sake of criticism.

The leader also expressed confidence that the newly elected speaker, whom he described as a mature politician—will run Parliament effectively.
