Govt to introduce legal framework for petrol, diesel vehicle conversion to EVs

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to make the necessary legal arrangements to convert petrol and diesel vehicles into electric vehicles.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday took the decision to facilitate a legal framework for converting fuel-based vehicles into electric ones, government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said.

According to him, the decision was taken as fuel supply has become uncertain in recent times due to the escalating conflict in West Asia.

The government believes that promoting the conversion of petrol and diesel vehicles into electric ones could help address potential fuel shortages and support the country’s shift toward cleaner transportation.
