President, Vice President abstain from voting to maintain constitutional neutrality

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel and Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav did not participate in voting in the House of Representatives (HoR) elections taking place across the country on Thursday.

Both leaders refrained from casting their ballots in order to maintain constitutional neutrality in their roles as guardians of the Constitution.

According to the President’s press advisor Kiran Pokhrel, the head of state decided not to vote considering his position as the patron of the Constitution and the guardian of the nation.

Before being elected President, Paudel used to cast his vote at the Satyawati Secondary School polling center in Vyas Municipality of his home district Tanahun.

Similarly, Vice President Yadav also chose not to vote in the election to uphold constitutional neutrality, his press advisor Dinesh Yadav said.

During the previous election, Yadav had cast his ballot from the Basabariya polling center in Bara district.
