BUTWAL: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has warned that his party will launch protests if the government continues what he described as “wrongful activities.”
Addressing the first unification meeting and training program of the party’s Lumbini Province Committee in Butwal on Saturday, Prachanda said the party is closely observing the political situation and will decide on its next course of action in the coming months.
“We are waiting for the right time to speak. If necessary, we will not only speak but also fight strongly,” he said, warning that the party is prepared to take to the streets if required.
Prachanda also claimed that the political developments of September 8 and 9, 2025 were not aimed at promoting good governance or reforms but were part of a broader international strategy and conspiracy. He alleged that the developments were linked to the Indo-Pacific Strategy, with the objective of influencing Nepal’s geopolitical landscape and containing India and China.
Expressing dissatisfaction over criticism from within his own party, Prachanda said attempts were being made to undermine both him and the party’s leadership. He argued that leadership is built through history, political struggle, and movements, and cannot simply be created or removed at someone’s will.
At the same time, he said he would be willing to step down from the party’s leadership if broad political and organizational discussions produced a more suitable leader.
Prachanda also instructed party leaders and cadres to focus on preparations for the party’s upcoming general convention rather than engaging in discussions about possible unification with other political parties.
