KATHMANDU: Nepal has registered a commanding 167-run victory over Malaysia in the Asian Games qualifying cricket match on Thursday.
In the match, Nepal national cricket team posted a massive total of 275 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs after Malaysia opted to field first upon winning the toss.
For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel starred with a brilliant 126 runs off 54 balls, hitting 14 fours and 8 sixes. Aasif Sheikh contributed 68 runs off 24 balls, while captain Dipendra Singh Airee added a quickfire 31 runs off just 11 balls.
In response, Malaysia national cricket team were bundled out for 108 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets.
Malaysia captain Syed Aziz top-scored with 54 runs off 45 balls. Sharvin Muniandy made 18 runs, while Muhammad Haziq Aiman added 13 runs. No other batter managed to reach double figures.
For Nepal, Sher Malla took three wickets, while Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, and Karan KC took one wicket each.
With both strong batting and disciplined bowling, Nepal secured a comprehensive win as they continue their campaign in the qualification round.
