Fire damages school building in Bhaktapur, causes estimated loss of Rs 5 million

KATHMANDU: A fire at Khwopring English Secondary School in Libali, Bhaktapur Municipality, has caused significant damage to the school infrastructure.

According to Principal Binod Prajapati, the blaze completely damaged two floors of the school building and destroyed five classrooms.

The fire is estimated to have caused losses worth around Rs 5 million.

School authorities suspect that the fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. Cleanup efforts, including the removal of burnt materials and sanitation work, have already begun.

The school administration said it is working to ensure that teaching and learning activities resume as soon as possible and are not disrupted for an extended period.

Meanwhile, the Jagati Police Circle said that a detailed assessment of the damage is still underway.
