BAITADI: The district committees of the Land Problem Resolution Commission have resumed their activities. Ramesh Pandey, Chairman of the District Committee, announced that operations at the district level restarted following the Supreme Court’s annulment of the government’s decision to dissolve the commission.
During a district committee meeting attended by District Coordination Committee Chief Khagendra Singh Dhami and Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Paudel, it was decided to send letters to municipalities requesting information on landless Dalits, landless squatter communities, and irregular settlers by February 8.
In line with this resolution, communication has been established with all 10 local levels in the district, according to Binod Prasad Bhatt, Secretary of the Committee and Head of the Survey Office.
The letters sent to the municipalities outlined tasks including the entry of applications collected from all wards into the Commission’s computer system, the formation of Ward and Local Level Facilitation Committees, the posting of notices regarding opposition to claims as per established procedures, and conducting necessary investigations and verifications of applications.
The committee also instructed municipalities to publish lists of unverified applications, identify land that can be allocated according to regulations for landless Dalits and squatters, obtain decisions from the executive, and provide the district committee with information and verified decisions from both ward and executive levels concerning landless Dalits, landless squatters, and unorganized settlers.
