Elderly man dies after being hit by pickup truck in Jhapa



JHAPA: An elderly man died after being struck by a pickup truck in Kotihom, Kankai Municipality-4, Jhapa, on Monday morning.

According to the District Traffic Police Office, the pickup truck (Me 1 Cha 5104), which was travelling from Damak to Birtamod along the East-West Highway, hit Prahlad Shiwakoti, about 70, while he was crossing the road in the Kotihom area.

Shiwakoti sustained serious injuries and died on the way to Birtamod while being taken for treatment, police said.

Police have taken the pickup truck and its driver into custody for further investigation.
