Gold rises by Rs 400 per tola, silver gains Rs 50



KATHMANDU: Prices of both gold and silver increased in the domestic market on Tuesday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations.

The federation fixed the price of fine gold at Rs 311,300 per tola, up by Rs 400 from Monday’s rate of Rs 310,900 per tola.

Gold prices had witnessed a sharp rise on Sunday after the government increased the customs duty on gold imports from 10 percent to 20 percent through the new budget. Following the adjustment, the price of gold had jumped by Rs 20,500 per tola in a single day.

Meanwhile, silver prices also moved higher on Tuesday. The price of silver increased by Rs 50 per tola to reach Rs 5,405, compared to Rs 5,355 per tola on the previous trading day.
