NCP to hold national general convention in Kathmandu from November 27- December 1



KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party has announced that its unity national general convention will be held in Kathmandu from November 27- December 1, 2026.

The decision was taken by a meeting of the party’s Central Working Coordination Committee chaired by coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

According to party spokesperson Prakash Jwala, the party will carry out membership renewal and expansion campaigns until the end of Shrawan (mid-August). Ward-level conventions are scheduled to be completed by August 31, followed by municipal-level conventions by the end of Bhadra (mid-September), district-level conventions by the end of Ashoj (mid-October), and provincial conventions by Kartik 15 (November 1).

The party has also set a deadline to complete organizational integration and adjustment, from the central level down to provinces, districts, local units, wards and grassroots structures, by the end of Jestha (mid-June).

The statement said all party committees, from ward to central level, will be formed based on proportional and inclusive principles, ensuring representation of experienced leaders as well as youth. The party aims to ensure up to 50 percent representation of youth and young members.

The CPN has also formed a task force to suggest constitutional amendments. Members of the task force include Dev Prasad Gurung, Prakash Jwala, Prem Bahadur Singh, Randhwaj Limbu, Rekha Sharma, Ganesh Bishwakarma, senior advocates Muktinarayan Pradhan and Khimlal Devkota, advocate Jagadev Chaudhary, Dambar Bikram Karki and Ram Bahadur Chaudhary.

The meeting, held from April 2 to 27 following party unification, also decided to give full shape to the party’s central committee in line with its interim statute-2082, the spokesperson added.
