15 people arrested with suspected illegal drugs



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 15 people in separate incidents involving suspected illegal drugs in Kathmandu, Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Dang, Kapilvastu and Bhaktapur districts.

According to the Central Police Newsroom, 36-year-old Umesh Mukhiya of Tarkeshwor Municipality-7, Kathmandu, was arrested from Manmaiju with a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

Similarly, 23-year-old Ghanshyam Basnet was arrested from Sangam Tole in Pathari Shanishchare Municipality-10, Morang, while 23-year-old Subash Rajbanshi of Bhadrapur Municipality-7 was arrested from Kadam Chowk in Haldibari Rural Municipality-2, Jhapa, with substances suspected to be brown heroin.

Police also arrested four people from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City in Sunsari and two others from Salleban in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Dang. Another person was arrested from Sunkholi in Lamahi Municipality-5.

In Kapilvastu, police arrested three people, including 22-year-old Arjun Sunar of Baniyabhar, Shivaraj Municipality-9, from Krishnanagar Municipality-8. Police recovered a substance suspected to be brown sugar and cash from their possession.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Suraj Luitel and 21-year-old Bidur Karki, both from Dhunibesi Municipality-2, Dhading, were arrested from Shamichowk in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-16 with tramadol, a prescription medicine.

Police said the suspects were taken into custody as part of separate operations and further investigations are underway.
