Harka Sampang stresses agricultural reform as key to national progress

KATHMANDU: Harka Sampang, chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, has said that national problems cannot be solved without addressing issues in agriculture, calling for government action to modernize farming and integrate technology.

Speaking in the House of Representatives, Sampang stressed that agriculture is the foundation of economic transformation.

“Without solving the problems of farming, we cannot solve the nation’s problems. That is why we must modernize agriculture and link it with technology,” he said. “We must utilize all resources and means to advance the country toward prosperity.”

Sampang also expressed dissatisfaction with the limited time allotted to his party during the parliamentary session. He raised concerns over procedural disparities, noting that the ruling party was given 25–30 minutes to speak while opposition parties received only 10 or even 5 minutes.

He further referenced a recent apology from Rabi Lamichhane in parliament regarding discrimination against Dalit communities but highlighted that bias and inequality still persist within the House.

“As elected representatives of the people, even in the House there is discrimination. The ruling party gets 25–30 minutes to speak, while the opposition is limited to 10, 5, or 3 minutes,” Sampang said, criticizing the uneven allocation of speaking time.
