Motorcyclist killed after being hit by water tanker in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: A 25-year-old man died and another was injured after a motorcycle was hit by a water tanker near Pepsicola in Kathmandu last night.

According to the Kathmandu Police Range, Nawaraj Tumsing, 25, of Roshi Rural Municipality-3, Kavre, died in the accident.

The incident took place in Chhapro, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, when a water tanker (Ba. 1 Kha 3287) traveling from Jadibuti toward Pepsicola collided head-on with a motorcycle (Ba. 2 Pa 2548) coming from the opposite direction.

Tumsing, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and later died while undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital.

The motorcycle’s driver, 26-year-old Santosh Magar, also from Roshi-3, Kavre, was injured in the crash but is reported to be out of danger, according to police.

The tanker driver, Ram Bahadur Thapa, 47, of Dhading, has been taken into custody by the Koteshwor Police Division for investigation.
