KATHMANDU: At an event in Nuwakot on Saturday, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ accused the royalists of creating chaos by hiring people to stir trouble.
Responding to this, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Lingden spoke to reporters during the royalists’ third day of protest.
Lingden recalled how, during the republican movement, Prachanda himself brought people from faraway places, hosted lavish feasts at party palaces, and distributed money to organize rallies.
“Poor Prachanda doesn’t really need much rebuttal. Whether good or bad, he is the founder of the republic. It was under his leadership that the issue of the republic emerged in Nepal,” Lingden said. “So naturally, when the republic is shaken, he is the one who feels the most troubled. When troubled, harsh words and acts follow — I don’t see this as anything unusual.”
Lingden also accused Prachanda of distributing money to stage pro-republic demonstrations. “He knows well how he brought people from distant places, arranged feasts at party palaces, and organized rallies by feeding and paying people. That’s what he described from his own experience. I have no further comment.”
Lingden expressed confidence that if popular support continues to grow and reach the needed levels, this government will be forced to step down. “If we don’t get sufficient popular support, we will try again. We will persist continuously,” he said.
He further accused the republic and democracy of turning the country into a ‘lootocracy’ and vowed to end it. “They have always had the luxury to loot. We will put an end to that,” Lingden declared.
