Winter session of Federal Parliament begins today

KATHMANDU: The winter session of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to begin today (Friday) at 1:00 pm at the Federal Parliament building, New Baneshwor. This session is also referred to as the Bill Session.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has released the tentative agenda for both Houses.

Secretariat Spokesperson Ekram Giri stated that the agenda includes the Speaker reading various letters sent by the President, including the one announcing the commencement of the winter session.

Additionally, the Speaker will nominate a member to chair the meeting in accordance with Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Regulation, 2079.

As is customary, lawmakers will present their views on behalf of their parties on the first day of the session.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to present an ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts related to promoting good governance and public service delivery (2081).

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will table several ordinances, including the Ordinance on Financial Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment), 2081, the Ordinance on Privatization (First Amendment), 2081, and the Ordinance to amend Nepal Acts related to improving the economic and business environment and investment promotion (2081).

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Bal Ram Adhikari, will present the Ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts related to cooperatives (2081), as well as the Ordinance to amend Nepal Acts related to land management (2081).

The Speaker will also table various condolence motions during the session.

In addition, the Media Council Bill (2080) and the report on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill (2081) will be presented in the National Assembly.
