NEPSE falls on first trading day, turnover hits Rs 7 billion



KATHMANDU: The stock market fell by 26.51 points on the first trading day (Sunday) of the week.

According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the index dropped to 2,649.52 points. Despite the decline, total turnover reached Rs 7 billion, driven by the trading of 15 million shares.

On the day, 45 shares gained in value, 211 shares declined, and one remained unchanged. Companies such as Sagar Distillery, Swastik Laghubitta, and Jhapa Energy recorded gains. Investors earned significant returns per share as the prices of these companies rose to the circuit limit.

Conversely, shares of Nepal Investment Mega Bank Debentures, Joshi Hydropower, Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company, Shwetaganga Hydropower, and others fell, with the maximum drop reaching 8.99 percent, according to NEPSE.

Himalayan Reinsurance recorded the highest turnover, with buy-sell transactions amounting to Rs 230 million. Similarly, Joshi Hydro and other companies saw trading worth Rs 210 million.
