DAO Kathmandu classifies 169 injured in Gen Z protests



KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has completed the classification of individuals injured during the Gen Z protests held on September 8 and 9 in the capital.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer and Assistant Spokesperson Muktiram Rijal, details of 169 injured persons have been verified and categorized in two phases.

He said the injured have been classified into four groups: 15 critically injured, 51 seriously injured, 36 moderately injured, and 67 with minor injuries. The classification process was conducted on November 21 and 28.

Rijal stated that the team visited hospitals to assess those who were incapacitated, while individuals unable to visit the administration office were transported by ambulance for evaluation.

The Classification Facilitation Committee, coordinated by the Chief District Officer, categorized the injured based on the Procedure for Classification of Injured Persons during Gen Z Demonstrations, 2025.

After completing the classification, the administration office will forward its recommendations to the Ministry of Health and Population, which will then determine and arrange the necessary services and social security benefits for those injured.
