Coalition partners suggest reforms to boost govt efficiency

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar to discuss the upcoming government policies and programs for the new fiscal year.

Speaking after the meeting, CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali stated that the discussions focused on designing policies aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of development efforts.

“Suggestions were provided on key policy directions. It was emphasized that we must collectively strengthen democracy and respond firmly to the various forms of attacks it is facing,” he said.

According to Gyawali, coalition partners recommended programs targeting youth, including entrepreneurship promotion, skill development, business planning, and market protection strategies to restore optimism among the younger generation.

He further emphasized the need for stronger economic measures. “To bring the economy back on track, it is essential to enhance the government’s spending capacity, eliminate redundant structures and wasteful expenditures, and improve overall administrative efficiency,” he added.

Suggestions were also made to improve good governance and to ensure that this year’s policies and programs mark a clear departure from the past, with the upcoming budget aligning accordingly.
