Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to record statement before probe commission today



KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is appearing before the investigation commission formed to probe the incidents of September 8 and 9 to record his statement today.

Lekhak, who was serving as Home Minister during the Gen-Z movement, has been accused of issuing orders to open fire on protesting students. The Sushila Karki-led interim government, formed after the protests, has summoned him for questioning.

According to commission sources, Lekhak has been called to give his statement at 12 noon. He is expected to respond to questions related to the events that took place during the protests and clarify his role in the incident.

After recording his statement, Lekhak is scheduled to brief the media. He has set a media interaction program at Singha Durbar after 2 pm, sources said.
