Commerce Department takes action against 17 firms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, which conducts regular market monitoring and inspections, has taken action against 17 industries and firms.

Of these, three industries and firms were fined a total of Rs 110,000. Samjhana Achar Udyog and Aarohan Fashion Craft Pvt. Ltd. were each fined Rs 10,000, while Sadhana Suppliers was fined Rs 50,000.

The Department said the action was taken under Sections 15 and 38(d) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS, in accordance with Section 39(1)(a) of the same Act. In addition, corrective instructions were issued to 14 other industries and firms.

The Department stated that regular market monitoring is being carried out to ensure cleanliness and curb black marketing.
