Baskota hits back at Sher Bahadur Tamang amid exchange of accusations

KATHMANDU: A public exchange of accusations has erupted between Gokul Baskota and Sher Bahadur Tamang, both leaders of the CPN-UML party.

Baskota expressed anger through a post on Facebook, accusing Tamang of publicly targeting him after he expressed his views.

In the post, Baskota said he was not an “opportunist” who frequently changes factions or splits the party to secure positions for himself or his spouse. He suggested Tamang review political history since 2038 BS before making such remarks.

Earlier, Tamang, who represents Sindhupalchok District, had posted a status saying that those who could not protect votes in their own constituency had no moral ground to demand the leadership’s resignation.

The remarks triggered a back-and-forth between the two leaders on social media.
