Technical glitch in Foreign Employment Department’s system troubles applicants

KATHMANDU: A technical problem in the Department of Foreign Employment’s information management system (FIMS) has caused difficulties for individuals applying for labor approval.

According to the department’s information officer, Tika Ram Dhakal, the system malfunction began on Tuesday, creating inconvenience particularly for those submitting applications from outside the department premises.

“Due to issues in the FIMS system, applicants submitting from external locations are facing trouble. However, for urgent labor approval cases, we are providing services through an alternative system at the department,” Dhakal said.

He added that while the department’s main website had also encountered issues earlier, that problem has now been resolved. “The issue was caused by the expiration of the ‘special certificate’ time frame on the website. Though the server was down on Tuesday, the problem was resolved the same day,” Dhakal clarified.

A technical team is currently working to identify and fully resolve the ongoing system issue, which officials expect to be fixed within the next few days.
