President Paudel calls for unity and timely elections

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on all Nepalis to exercise restraint and extend their full support to ensure the continuation of the people’s representative parliament and government by holding scheduled elections on time.

In his message of best wishes issued today on the occasion of Dashain 2025, the President also highlighted the importance of effectively managing the extraordinary situations facing the country, including human casualties and damage to public, private, and institutional property.

Extending heartfelt wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and progress to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad, President Paudel emphasized that Dashain is a celebration of strength, devotion, and faith.

He noted that Dashain involves the worship of Nawa Durga Bhawani for nine days. On Bijaya Dashami, people receive Tika, Jamara, and blessings from elders as a form of Durga Bhawani’s prasad, continuing the celebration until the full moon.

“There is a religious and historical belief that on the day of Bijaya Dashami, Goddess Durga defeated evil forces, and Lord Ram vanquished Rawan,” said the President.

“This festival is traditionally celebrated with family gatherings, reunions, and the exchange of joy and goodwill. It symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood.”

President Paudel expressed confidence that Dashain will inspire all Nepalis to work toward economic prosperity with justice and equality, and promote social unity, harmony, and brotherhood.

He added that the spontaneous expression of devotion and respect to elders and dignitaries during Dashain further enhances its significance.

The festival, he said, plays a crucial role in strengthening family bonds, social harmony, forgiveness, and goodwill, while helping preserve Nepal’s cultural unity and identity amid its geographic, cultural, and linguistic diversity.

President Paudel also prayed for the country’s recovery from the current political situation, and wished for happiness, peace, stability, good governance, and prosperity for the nation and its people.
